‘Bubble’ is inspired by the artwork of Mübin Orhon and curved architecture of Pierre Cardin’s Palais Bulles. As a creative I am inspired by shapes and how they affect the look of garments and the body and I like to explore how I can create unique designs from the shapes seen within my concepts. In ‘Bubble’ I wanted to take calming and soft shapes found in architecture and create a collection inspired by an ambition of creating a calmer and slower fashion industry. I am passionate about the value of craft within the fashion industry and not losing that value to fast fashion, and I believe that one way to resolve the issue is through promoting the idea of investing in fewer more valuable garments rather than a greater number of cheaper garments. The capsule collection was designed with the idea that all garments can be worn interchangeably, are not too trend driven and make use of environmentally conscious fabrics. I was hugely inspired by Orhon and found his paintings very tranquil and I wanted to reflect this theme of tranquillity in my garments and also reinforce the idea that my garments are works of art to keep and look after.
